  • Long Day

So I went to work out this morning *pat on the back* and came home to get a little something to eat.  I don't know if anyone else has to do this but in CA we have to get SMOG Checks before we can get our tags updated on our cars.  Took my car in on Tues., hour and a half wait. Not too bad.  Took Thom's car in today, 3hour wait!!!  UGGGHHH!!!!  I hate waiting for maintenance on cars!  Took Gracie for a walk, now going to shower and figure out dinner. . .TIRED!

  • Today, 6 Years Ago

Thom and I were in the Bahamas getting ready for our wedding!  :o)  SHHHHH. . . .it's a secret!

Thom had left our room because he didn't want to see me before the wedding.  I was getting my hair and make-up done and getting dressed.  I had a hair stylest from the resort do my hair.  He was hanging out with some people that we had met the day before and getting breakfast.

We had our spot all picked out and I begin to walk down to the area.  It was sooo beautiful and there he was, my best friend, my soul mate, my knight in shining armor, the love of my life.  It was such a beautiful day!  We were so happy and nervous (only because we couldn't believe that we were doing this and no one knew) and excited.

After the wedding, we had a small photo shoot and reception.  There was a huge cake and it was delicious and all kinds of friut and yummy food.  What a wonderful day!

  • Retirement

    Hey,

We hope you all had a great weekend.  We spent the weekend with the students in the mountains.  It was a fun trip but exhausting.  I think the LR student ministry was by far our peak. . . .we don't feel a connection with these students as much.  So, we are retiring from youth ministry.  The church has a different idea of youth ministry than we do, and we are having to play politics which we really don't like.  The Summit really spoiled us with not having all the politics and just being AWESOME.

Our church is doing some really exciting things and we want to be a part of the new stuff so student ministry has to go.  We will have a North Campus and a Park Blvd. Campus.  The Park Blvd Campus is what we are excited about.  The church owns a lot of property there and we are going to fix it up so it can reach out to the community.  Examples: Coffee House, Art Gallery, Fitness Center, and have classes for the community there.  Thom will be hosting an AIDS Prevention class, new mom's class.  We are going to see how these things are recieved before we do more.  Reaching this neighborhood is difficult but we have no agenda other than to be present.  We are also going to try to do something for Earth Day and other things that the community is interested in.  We are really excited about this stuff and can't wait to get started!

  • Surprise Date

Yesterday afternoon, some friends let us know that they had some extra tickets to go see Matt Wertz live downtown.  If you don't know who matt wertz is, he does nice chill music.  I'm usually not a big concert fan.  It's usually super crowded, hot and uncomfortable.  We hadn't seen these friends in a while so we decided we could go even if it wasn't super fun, just to hang out with them.

It was the best concert that we have ever been too!  The tickets were $18 each and it was at a restaurant so you had to spend a minimum of $15 per person on food.  All of the tables were facing the stage so everyone could see.  They even had balcony seating.  It was a very nice way to go to a concert!  What a great idea!  We did feel like it was a very San Diego thing to do.

It was good music, but the cool thing is that he is a likeable guy.  He's pretty funny and started telling us about his recent trip to Africa.  He and some friends ended up starting the "Mocha Club".  Basically saying that if you got 2 fewer mocha's a month and gave the money that you would have spent on that to this club , it would go to providing meals and water for families in Africa.  The big thing is getting the women out of sex trafficing as a way to provide for their families.

It was a great Surprise Date!  We had a lot of fun.
